Insurance Practice

In-House Insurance Expert — Commercial Lines

Remote (US)full time$120,000–$160,000 + equity
Apply for this role

We're building AI that does the parts of agency work people hate — keying ACORD forms, chasing missing info, rekeying the same named insured across five supplements. To make it trustworthy, we need someone who has done that work at the highest level for two decades.

You'll be the in-house authority on commercial lines: how forms should be filled, what underwriters actually need, where the landmines are. You'll shape product, review AI output, and be the voice clients trust.

What you'll do

  • Be the domain authority on commercial-lines submissions — ACORD 125/126/130/140 and the supplements that hang off them.
  • Define the gold-standard for how every field should be filled, flagged, or questioned.
  • Review and red-team AI-generated forms; turn your corrections into rules the system learns.
  • Sit in on client calls as the expert who has seen their exact situation before.
  • Help design the product so it encodes real underwriting judgment, not guesses.

What we're looking for

  • 20+ years in commercial lines — agency, brokerage, or carrier side.
  • Deep, hands-on exposure across E&O, commercial, and personal lines.
  • Has handled or overseen books of $10M+ in premium.
  • Fluent in ACORD forms and at least one agency management system (AMS360, Applied Epic, EZLynx, HawkSoft).
  • Can explain *why* a field is filled a certain way, not just *that* it is.

Nice to have

  • CPCU, CIC, or similar designation.
  • Built or rebuilt an agency's submission process.
  • Curiosity about AI and a willingness to teach a machine your craft.
